Tina Velazquez is creating artwork with one foot in the abstract world and the other in the symbolic. Her process transcends the styles of abstract expressionism, surrealism and impressionism. Her oil paintings begin with an emotion and and an image from her experience. As she paints, her approach organically changes from intentional symbolism to intuitive abstraction while staying rooted in emotion.
